Hi, I’m Jon. A creative who’s spent decades behind the camera, and eventually learned what it really means to step in front of it.
For years, I worked behind the lens of global advertising campaigns, photographing people like Sir David Attenborough, Sir Lewis Hamilton, and other world recognised names. My focus was precision, lighting and excellence, helping people look confident, composed and professional. I understood the mechanics of a great portrait inside out.
But when the camera turned toward me, everything changed. Like many of the people I work with today, I felt uncomfortable being seen. I avoided it, questioned it, told myself my work should speak for me instead.
That experience changed how I understand portraiture. Because most people see themselves through what they'd change, not what is already there. A session can feel exposing, and quickly become a list of things to fix, the better angle, the awkward expression, the part you'd rather hide. I know that instinct well, it's exactly what I felt the first time I stood in front of a lens myself.
What I didn't realise at the time was that the discomfort was never about the camera. It was about visibility, about being seen honestly, without a role to hide behind. And what we try to hide is rarely a flaw. It's usually the exact thing that makes someone impossible to look away from.
I've stood exactly where you're standing. But I also know how quickly that feeling dissolves when someone creates the right environment, one built on trust, presence and care. When the pressure lifts, the performance falls away, and something real takes its place. Confidence stops being something you try to project, and becomes something you simply feel.
My clients often describe me as thoughtful, dependable and a calming presence, even in the moments people find hardest to sit through. That comes from experience, but also from the way I see the world. Over two decades spent immersing myself in different cultures, colours and perspectives has deepened my sensitivity to atmosphere, story and human connection, and it shapes how I look for what is real, what feels true, and what will genuinely connect, whether that's a casting director, an audience, or someone meeting you for the first time.
